Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2021

RPM Act

Save our race cars!

There is this thing going on in the motorsports industry, if you haven’t heard. Not just a thing, but a federal regulation. This regulation is called Clear Air Act. It is created by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to make sure that certain industries produce less or don’t produce emissions of all air pollutants. What does this have to do with motorsports? The EPA regulation enforces that you are no longer permitted to tamper with or remove emission testing devices. The EPA is also stepping on the motorsports industry toes by restricting the production of aftermarket parts. This could lead to disbanding of many automotive manufactures of racing equipment that we all support. As a lover for motorsports, Grassroots Drifting USA reaching out to all the motorsport fans, and drivers out there, professional and amateur.

RPM Act of 2021 is a legislature that fights for an American freedom, supported by both sides, who understand the importance of our automotive culture that has been in our tradition for over 50 years. It is an American right to modify an on street vehicle turning into a dedicated motorsports vehicle, converting them into race cars. There should be no doubt about that. As well as allowing the motorsports industry to continue producing racing equipment and after market parts for all the vehicles in this country.

EPA Clean Air Act wants to restrict you from converting your engines, installing aftermarket modifications, swapping motors, anything that would conflict with emissions testing. Any sales or manufacturing of such parts would also be considered to be a violation of the regulation.

The Automotive industry has over 2 billion dollars of annual market value. There are thousands of amateur and professional drivers who compete on a weekly basis. This industry is a tradition that must be kept on it’s throne for many years to continue, and not let EPA take away this right. Clean Air Act also threatens to take out millions of people out of their jobs who are employed by these automotive manufacturing companies.

RPM Act does not have a conflict with EPA Authority for individuals who attempt to illegally by-pass emissions testing systems and drive on public roads. RPM Act of 2021 makes clear to the Clean Air Act that any modifications made to a vehicle which are exclusively used in competition. This confirms that it would be permitted to manufacture, sell and install racing equipment.

How can I help?

The RPM Act must be enacted into law to guarantee your right to modify street cars, trucks, and motorcycles into dedicated race vehicles, and ensure that industry can offer parts that enable racers to compete.

Notify your elected officials to pass the RPM Act and protect Motosports as we know it.
